Outdoor Kitchen Orlando — Custom Built-In Outdoor Kitchens for Central Florida Living

Orlando's Custom Outdoor Kitchen Contractors

Orlando's climate is one of the strongest arguments for building an outdoor kitchen anywhere in the United States. With over 233 sunny days per year, mild winters, and an outdoor living season that runs all twelve months — Central Florida homeowners aren't buying freestanding grill carts and calling it a kitchen. They're building fully integrated outdoor cooking and entertaining spaces that function as a permanent extension of the home.

At TEK Construction Group, we design and build custom outdoor kitchens across Orlando and the greater Central Florida region. We've been in this market for over 15 years and we know exactly what holds up in Florida's climate — the humidity, the UV intensity, the afternoon thunderstorms — and what doesn't. Every material we specify and every structural decision we make is informed by what we've seen perform here across hundreds of projects.

Whether you want a clean single-island grilling station or a fully loaded outdoor living space with a pizza oven, bar, pergola, and landscape lighting — we handle the complete scope. Design, permits, masonry, gas, electrical, plumbing, countertops, appliances, lighting, finishing. One team, one point of contact, one finished outdoor kitchen built to last in Florida.

Outdoor Kitchen Services We Offer in Orlando

Custom Outdoor Kitchen Design

Every project starts with your space, your lifestyle, and how you actually entertain. We assess the existing patio, gas and electrical proximity, sun and shade orientation, HOA requirements, and Orange County setback rules before a single block is laid. We design around how you'll live in the space — not the maximum scope we could quote.

Island Construction

CMU Block and Steel Frame We build outdoor kitchen islands two ways: CMU (concrete masonry unit) block — the most durable, permanent option — and steel stud framing with cement board substrate. Both are appropriate for Florida's humidity and weather. What we never use: wood framing. Wood behind cement board in a Florida outdoor kitchen invites moisture, mold, rot, and termites within a few years.

Built-In Grills and Cooking Equipment

We install all major outdoor grill brands — Napoleon, Blaze, Delta Heat, Coyote, Lion, Weber Summit, and Lynx. We'll help you choose the right grill for your cooking style and use frequency. We also install side burners, rotisserie kits, and infrared sear zones as part of the grill station configuration.

Pizza Ovens

Wood-fired and gas-fired pizza ovens are one of the fastest-growing additions to Orlando outdoor kitchens. We install prefabricated refractory dome ovens into custom CMU surrounds, or fully custom-built brick ovens constructed on site. Pizza ovens are heavy — we engineer the slab and island foundation to handle the load properly.

Outdoor Bar, Refrigerator, Sink & Appliances

A complete outdoor kitchen can incorporate: an outdoor-rated refrigerator, bar sink with hot and cold plumbing, ice maker, kegerator, warming drawer, and a raised bar section with seating overhang. We install and connect everything in-house — you don't need to manage separate plumbing and electrical contractors.

Countertop Options

Material selection matters in Florida. What we recommend:

Poured concrete — UV-stable, heat-resistant, fully customizable. Our most popular outdoor kitchen countertop. Requires resealing every 2–3 years.

Outdoor-rated porcelain slab — Non-porous, zero maintenance, UV-stable. Large-format options look nearly identical to natural stone.

Natural granite or quartzite — Dense, heat-resistant, premium aesthetic.

What we don't install outdoors: Engineered quartz (Silestone, Caesarstone, etc.). The resin binders are not UV-stable and will discolor, warp, and crack under direct Florida sun — sometimes within a single season.

Outdoor Cabinetry Wood and MDF cabinetry don't survive Florida's outdoor environment.

We use stainless steel, marine-grade polymer (HDPE), or powder-coated aluminum cabinetry exclusively — all designed to handle moisture, UV, and temperature swings without swelling, warping, or corroding.

Outdoor Lighting

We design multi-layer lighting systems for every outdoor kitchen build: under-cabinet task lighting over prep and cooking surfaces, countertop edge LED channels, overhead pergola or ceiling lighting, and low-voltage landscape integration around the kitchen perimeter. All electrical is permitted and installed to NEC wet-location code.

Pergola and Shade Structures

An uncovered outdoor kitchen in Orlando isn't functional for half the year. We build wood pergolas, motorized aluminum louvered pergola systems (open and close with a remote — including rain protection), solid patio covers, and full outdoor pavilions with fans, lighting, and optional screens. This scope is included in the outdoor kitchen project — not farmed out.

Gas Line and Plumbing Installation

All natural gas and propane connections require a licensed plumber and an Orange County permit. We handle this in-house — trench, run, size, test, and inspect the gas line before any appliance is connected. Same for plumbing: sink, ice maker, and dishwasher connections are done by our licensed team with proper permits.

How Much Does an Outdoor Kitchen Cost in Orlando?

Entry-Level Grill Island — $8,000 to $15,000 A single CMU or steel-framed island with a built-in grill, access doors, concrete countertop, and gas connection. Permanent, weather-resistant, and built to outlast any freestanding alternative by decades.

Full Outdoor Kitchen — $18,000 to $35,000 Grill station, side burner, outdoor refrigerator, sink with plumbing, bar section, under-cabinet lighting, and concrete or porcelain countertops. This is the scope most Orlando homeowners end up building.

Premium Outdoor Living Space — $40,000 to $80,000+ Fully loaded kitchen with a pizza oven, kegerator, ice maker, pergola or louvered roof structure, TV mounting, smart lighting, premium countertops, and landscape lighting integration. A complete outdoor living environment.

What most affects cost: Gas line distance from the meter, whether a new concrete pad is needed, appliance brand selection, countertop material, and whether an overhead structure is included. We provide written, itemized estimates after an in-person site assessment — no vague allowances, no mid-project surprises. Financing is available for qualified homeowners.

Why Build an Outdoor Kitchen in Orlando?

Year-round usability

Orlando outdoor kitchens get used 12 months a year. January evenings regularly sit in the 60s — perfect for cooking outside with a fire feature going. No other U.S. market delivers more usable value per year from an outdoor kitchen investment.

Strong home value return

In Central Florida's real estate market, a professionally built outdoor kitchen is a genuine competitive differentiator — not just a personal amenity. Buyers in Dr. Phillips, Windermere, and Winter Park expect outdoor living spaces. A high-quality outdoor kitchen justifies a higher asking price.

It changes how you use your home.

Homeowners who build outdoor kitchens consistently report that they entertain more, spend more time outside, and get far more value from their backyard. The outdoor kitchen becomes the anchor of outdoor social life in a way a freestanding grill never does.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a permit for an outdoor kitchen in Orlando?

Yes. Any outdoor kitchen involving gas connections, electrical work, or new structural elements requires Orange County permits. We pull all permits on every project — this is non-negotiable and protects you at sale and for insurance purposes.

How long does the build take?

Most outdoor kitchen projects take 5–10 weeks from signed contract to completion. The main variables are permit processing (1–3 weeks) and material lead times for custom countertops and specialty appliances.

Can I add an outdoor kitchen to an existing covered patio?

Yes — this is the most common starting point. We assess whether the existing slab can handle the island weight and whether the cover structure supports lighting and electrical loads, then plan accordingly.

Natural gas or propane?

Both work well. Natural gas is more convenient long-term if your home has service — no refill logistics. Propane works equally well for homes not on gas service. We assess your situation and recommend the right setup.

Can engineered quartz be used outdoors in Florida?

No. Engineered quartz resins are not UV-stable and will break down, discolor, and degrade under Florida's direct sun exposure. We recommend concrete, outdoor-rated porcelain, or natural stone instead.

Do you remodel existing outdoor kitchens?

Yes. If you have an existing setup that needs new countertops, appliance upgrades, expanded scope, or a complete rebuild, we assess what's worth keeping and provide an honest recommendation.
